The Zulu and Xhosa bring us the word "Indaba." Like "Mbongi" from the Kongo, it serves as a community discussion space where important decisions are made.
Black education is under attack, and some very important decisions need to be made! The only question is will you be at the table?
Not their table; ours!
AYA Educational Institute is jumpstarting a movement that will grow beyond us to address this anti-Afrikan attack on Black education and the psychic violence directed at our children and youth!
While others are correctly addressing educational policy, we are resurrecting and expanding on two direct educational efforts from the past:
Each One Teach One
Freedom Schools
Given the urgency, this movement morphs these into:
Each One Teach Ten!
Min-Freedom Schools
Our Wednesday Indaba is your place to learn all about this movement to reclaim and reshape education using high-tech for high-touch circles that become mini-freedom schools. These EOTT circles not only educate our youth, they reshape us to educate our own and redefine the education process.
Critiquing the enemy's actions isn't enough. Some decisions have to be made and actions taken, now!
They are coming for our children and youth, for our future.
Each One Teach Ten (EOTT) Circles (Mini-Freedom Schools) are simple and tested.
Creating them and sustaining them - especially in this current environment - will challenge us in every way.
Come parents, grandparents, educators, concerned and determined Afrikans - we seek to inform you and answer your questions so that we may act swiftly and powerfully.
How do I get started?
How do I recruit parents and students?
How do I recruit others to become an AYA Educational Support Specialist?
How will I sustain this effort?
Will it really make a difference?
Who is AYA and are they qualified to direct such a national and international effort?
Hi, We are Wekesa and Afiya Madzimoyo - founders and Co-Directors of AYA Educational Institue. If you've joined or thinking about joining or supporting the EOTT Mini-Freedom School movent, then the Wednesday Indabas are for you.
While you're getting set up and moving, we can help answering questions and craft solutions for your particular situation.
We've been working hard to create
1. Engaging Afrikan-Centered courses
2. Training for educational support specialist, and parents
3. A digital online platform to ease course delivery and administration
You may have starting roling things out to your community, training to understanding the electronic platform, or reviewing the course yourself.
Either way, we're here for you. Use us. Invite those in your circle of influence to attend the EOTT Indaba. We'll do the rest.
These are our children, and this is our time.

Indaba!
